La temporada de premios continúa con el anuncio de las nominaciones a los Premios Óscar 2024. Cintas favoritas de muchos como Oppenheimer, Poor Things y Killers of the Flower Moon han dominado las nominaciones, pero Barbie no se ha quedado atrás, ganándose un lugar en la competencia por Mejor película.
El verano del 2023 vio a Oppenheimer y Barbie contender en salas de cine, los Óscar no serán excepción con el largometraje de Christopher Nolan liderando con 13 nominaciones y el de Greta Gerwig con 8, siendo omitido de las categorías por Mejor actriz y Mejor director. La obra de Yorgos Lanthimos, Poor Things, sigue a Nolan con 11 nominaciones.
El mexicano Rodrigo Prieto ha obtenido su cuarta nominación al Óscar por su trabajo en cinematografía en Killers of the Flower Moon, protagonizada por Lily Gladstone, quien ha hecho historia como la primera mujer nativa americana en ser nominada a Mejor actriz por la Academia.
La Sociedad de la Nieve, dirigida por el español Juan Antonio Bayona, que narra el accidente del vuelo 571 en la cordillera de los Andes en 1972, está nominada a Mejor Película Extranjera.
Artistas como Billie Eilish, Jon Batiste y Mark Ronson destacan en la categoría de Mejor canción original.
Algunas cintas que han sido olvidadas en las nominaciones de este año incluyen Saltburn de Emerald Fennell, el thriller cómico que ha dado mucho de qué hablar le debió de haber ganado a Barry Keoghan un puesto para Mejor actor. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One recibió dos nominaciones en premios técnicos, mientras que John Wick: Chapter 4 fue hecho a un lado. Aunque Wes Anderson será representado con una nominación a The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, Asteroid City merecía un lugar entre los nominados a Mejor sonido y dirección de arte. Entre las cintas animadas, Elemental pudo haber cedido su lugar a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, cuya animación fue sorprendente e innovadora en comparación a la tradición de Disney.
La celebración de los premios se llevará a cabo el próximo 10 de marzo en el icónico Dolby Theatre en Hollywood. Jimmy Kimmel será el anfitrión de la noche.
